Strength training is an essential part
of any fitness program. It raises your metabolism, strengthens muscles
and connective tissue, increases flexibility, improves immune system
function, improves reaction time and balance, and increases bone density.
No special equipment is required. You should consult your physician
before beginning a strength training program, and make sure you are
properly warmed up before starting a workout. Before you embark on an
exercise program, it is suggested that you receive some professional
instruction - preferably from a trainer who has attended the Teaching Basic Strength Training Movements workshop.
